Our R&D follows an in-house, proprietary Quality Development system which ensures the quality of the product is always met as well as Process engineering principles are used for the manufacturing. This system ensures follows throughout the life cycle of the product.
Our in-house R&D team consists of formulation engineers, Chemist, Process Engineers and lab specialists. There is a built-in diversity to the ION labs R&D team ensuring that all aspects of any project will have an authority. This allows ION Labs to have team members who specialize in areas such as flavoring, reverse engineering, cosmetics formulation and even liquid capsules. The first stage of R&D begins with the Concept stage, where general research, concept formulation, and initial lab work are conducted. This provides enough information to determine proof of principle of the product.
In the next phase, the Feasibility is tested by conducting Pilot Run. In this stage, R&D creates the proof of concept, which may include but is not limited to flavor testing, stability testing, and pilot runs. This testing ensures the efficacy and process-ability of all new products. New product approval documentation is initiated thus starting the quality by design process. It is during this phase of the process which our R&D team works with our highly trained purchasing department to make sure raw materials are procured by reviewing for quality control, conducting testing.
During the Production stage, the product is manufactured in our state of the art facility. The manufacturing of the new product starts in blending, then moves to the appropriate manufacturing rooms: compression (tableting), encapsulation, Liquid fill, through our packaging area. R&D will be there each step of the way ensuring that the product being manufactured meets the customer’s specifications.
The product then moves into the Process Engineering phase of the process. Our R&D and Operations teams collect Process data, and test results. The R&D team uses process engineering tools, conducting analysis then implement continuous improvement actions. This continuous improvement ensures that Ion Labs delivers high-quality product each and every time.
